User got stuck during Citrix logon process

The problem

Last week we got a call from a customer saying that one user is logging on for more than one hour. To confirm what was happening we opened the Citrix Director. We searched for the specific user and found the session status on Logging On. When opening the Citrix Studio we found the user session as active but the user isn’t active at all. When opening the specific server we couldn’t find the user under task manager users. Under processes in the task manager we could find only one process for that specific user, Powershell.exe. How to cancel a Citrix Scheduled Reboot Cycle

Within a banking company I got the question if it is possible to cancel the daily schedule reboot. Sometimes employees need to work during the scheduled reboot. About me

My name is Niels Geursen and I work as an IT Architect.

I started my career in the year 2000. I learned about IT challenges from small to enterprise companies in the past years. In all these years I also got the opportunity to educate myself by following courses and doing exams for Citrix, Microsoft, and VMware. This led to the following certification: VCAP Desktop Management Design 2023, MCSE 2012, CCE-V, VCP6-DTM, and much more.

In June 2019 I was included in the vExpert program of VMware which was renewed ever since. I was also added to the vExpert sub-program EUC.

My experience mainly focuses on end-user computing this could be on-premises or in the cloud.

I hope you have fun reading my Blog!

Prevent users saving items on the Citrix/Terminal Server desktop.

In my current environment we allow users to save items on their desktop. Because we are using mandatory profiles we save the settings using Flex profiles from Immidio.

Lately some users are complaining that the logon times are increasing. After some investigation we came to the conclusion that the users are saving a lot of files to their Citrix/Terminal server desktop. The flex file would be around the 8 GB. My manager asked me to come up with a solution so that the users aren’t able to save files to their desktop but allow them to save shortcuts. Continue Reading
